About us and the Dairy Farm Forum |
| The Basics: |
| After growing up and always missing, the satisfaction of farming and living in the country. This site is dedicated to offering resources and forums to connect and offer support to individuals who have a passion like my own. |
Resume: |
** Grew up and worked on a dairy farm in eastern South Dakota and was an active participant in 4H and the FFA from 1969-1981.
** Served in the United States military as an Air Force Intelligence Specialist from 1981-2002.
** Supported and worked part-time for a dairy farmer in eastern Nebraska from 1983-1989.
** Senior Web Developer/Administrator, Information Technology Director, and Senior Database administrator for an Atlanta metro based corporation from 2002 to present. |
The Goal: |
My current goal is to acquire a small self-supportive hobby farm that I can operate with my wife in my later years. I have seen repeatedly individuals that retire and take to the recliner and pass shortly after. I want something that will keep me busy until the day I drop.
Coming full circle back to my roots the dairyfarmforum.com web site is my link to the farming industry until my goal becomes a reality. Much has changed in the farming industry in past 40 years and I am sure I will need to relearn some things, but the passion for going back to the farm is my ultimate desire and goal. |
Indecision in Life and Business: |
Just what a few quotes individuals have to say about indecision. These simple words apply to business, our goals, and to life in general.
"Indecision is debilitating; it feeds upon itself; it is, one might almost say, habit-forming. Not only that, but it is contagious; it transmits itself to others....
Business is dependent upon action. It cannot go forward by hesitation. Those in executive positions must fortify themselves with facts and accept responsibility for decisions based upon them.
Often greater risk is involved in postponement than in making a wrong decision."
H. A. Hopf
"Decision is a sharp knife that cuts clean and straight; indecision, a dull one that hacks and tears and leaves ragged edges behind it."
Gordon Graham
"Indecision is often worse than wrong action."
Henry Ford (1863 - 1947)
"Indecision is the thief of opportunity."
Jim Rohn
"Most of us are afflicted by indecision from time to time, the paralyzing feeling of not knowing what to do, but knowing you need to do something and decide something.
But it is important to recognize that most of the time, making a decision, even the wrong one is better than doing nothing and deciding nothing, as long as you are prepared to re-evaluate your decision.
Not deciding or doing anything means you are not moving anywhere, things grind to a standstill. On the other hand, if you make a bad decision you can quickly evaluate and learn from your decision - a bad decision tells you what doesn’t work and possibly what should work. It means a bad decision will leave you better equipped to correct your mistake and make the right decision.
Bad decisions are not the enemy, indecision is, just so long as you keep an open mind to acknowledge your mistake and correct it once you know more."
